Princess Crown Cupcakes (tutorial)

Our sweet flower girl turned 5 last week and celebrated with a fun, elaborate princess-themed birthday party.  It was like the party of my dreams! Never mind that I am a grown woman, the party had everything I loved  -  pink decor,  teacups, rhinestones, manicures and tiaras!  I promised to bring cupcakes for the special event, but because of the fresh stitches in my finger, Jeff ended up doing most of the baking. He will now be known as SuperHero for the rest of this post.

The vanilla cupcakes were made from The Joy of Baking’s recipe.  The frosting is Magnolia’s Buttercream frosting, which my SuperHero tinted pink with some food coloring gel:

I spooned the frosting in a pastry bag with a 1 M tip:

And swirled frosting in circles across the top, all with  my left hand!

For the cupcake wrappers, I used my handy dandy Silhouette machine.  I talk about this fantastic machine so much, I think I should be made a spokesperson! I downloaded the crown cupcake wrapper off the website for .99 and arranged it in the software installed on my laptop to fit 3 crowns to a sheet:

I hooked the machine up to my computer and fed silver giftwrap through it.  It does its cutting magic:

Out comes the cut out crowns!

Secure the ends of each crown with tape:

And slip onto each cupcake!
A dessert fitting for a sweet princess!
