Now that the weather is finally warming up, I’ve been busy planting outside. Our neighbor built big planter boxes in our shared backyard and we spent a morning hauling what seemed like a metric ton of organic soil to fill them. For the first time since I moved to this city, I have an actual garden! I’m ecstatic and dream of harvesting lots of lush veggies and fruits this summer.
Jeff got me a new camera lense for my birthday!! I’ve been playing around with it the past few days tho I’m not really sure how to use it yet, but I’ve been practicing in my garden. Let me show you what I am growing out back. Lots of flat leafed parsley:
Iceland poppies are my favorite flowers so I planted lots of these. They are starting to bloom now!
The poppies make me so happy! They are bright, colorful and so pretty!
I started a bunch of herbs from seeds out on our balcony, too, which I will transfer to the ground later. These grew slowly this year because of the awfully cold weather we have been having. It snowed here in April!
Why, hello, basil!! Thank you for finally making a showing!
Some California poppy seedlings to remind me of my home state.
I have no idea what these are. Its either parsley or rosemary. I convinced myself that I didn’t have to label the seedlings because I would remember what I planted but 6 weeks later, of course I forgot!
I plan on also planting some kale (for homemade kale chips!), bell peppers and brussel sprouts! I’m pretty new when it comes to gardening so I’m still figuring out what works the best. I go by the trial and error method. If something didn’t work out that well the year before, I try something new the next year tho I don’t really know what I am doing right or wrong. That’s why you won’t get any gardening tips from me on this blog, I’m just crossing my fingers that everything doesn’t die in a summer heat wave like last year!!
