My Sewing Box: A Metaphor for My Life Right Now

My sewing box overturned as I was packing and it looks like this:

Yikes.

I’m a self-confessed “Type A, Control Freak” so I am hanging my head in shame at how messy this is.  I almost didn’t show you guys but I thought it is actually a good metaphor of my life right now:   tangled, disorganized, disheveled….and just out of control!  We move across the country to San Francisco in three weeks!  We close on the sale of our home in Boston in 2 and a half weeks! Every room in our house is filled with boxes, bubble wrap, piles for donation and trash.  Somehow we have to downsize all of our stuff to fit into our new 700 square feet (and one closet) apartment -  I’m beginning to panic about how we are going to live in such tight quarters after living with 2 bedrooms, a den, basement and garage this past year.  My craft supplies alone fill up one closet!  I am frantically listing furniture on craigslist now!

Packing will have to wait a couple weeks because we are actually flying off to Italy today!!  We are insane to go off on a 2 week vacation during such a crazy time but we figured we’ve got to do it before we move out west and before Jeff starts his new job.  We spontaneously booked flights and now we are off!!

But don’t worry, I actually have a fun new series queued up starting next week while we are traipsing all across Europe. Check back on Monday to see it!  Ciao bella!!

I am insanely jealous, Italy! wow! Have a wonderful vacation and don’t fret about the organization, you’ll get it under control. Allow yourself the time to enjoy. Have a great (and safe) trip.
