My Wedding: Ceremony Programs

Hello!!  We are back from living la dolce vita in Italy!  We had a fabulous 2 weeks traveling through Cinque Terre, Venice, Florence and Rome!  We were so grateful we got to squeeze in one last trip this summer before we move out west. Now we are back in Boston – back to chaos, frantic packing and reality.  The movers are here this morning and I am writing this in the middle of a half-packed boxes and a fridge full of food that still needs to be eaten.  But the wedding series forges on!

I was a little burnt out after all the work that went into designing our invitations, but after a short break, I was excited to tackle the ceremony programs.  This is what our programs ended up looking like:

The program had red inserts with our bicycle logo, tied in place with baker’s twine:

The red insert unfolds accordian-style. On the red paper was a welcome message, lyrics to the worship songs and announcements:

I really wanted the programs to be on ultra-thick and plush paper, so I used the same paper that I used for our wedding invitations, Crane Lettra paper in 220# weight in Pearl White from Keldon Paper.  Instead of letterpressing this time, my sister helped me gocco the text on them.  We had to screenprint each one because the paper was too thick to run through any printer.   My favorite part was the text that I added to the bottom of the program after the recessional, “….and happily ever after!”

Of course it wasn’t until AFTER we finished screenprinting 175 of these that I realized I left out the name of the most important person in the ceremony besides us- the pastor!! OOOPS!!! Always, always triple check your work!! You would have thought I would have learned this lesson after my invitation typo fiasco. Sorry, Pastor Josh!!!

Here they are on the day of the wedding, our coordinator put one on each chair:

Underneath each program was a cellophane bag of flower petals, I’ll write about those tomorrow!

Oh My Gosh! I found your site through a link that was on TheKnot.com. I got totally caught up in your wedding and forgot about everything that I jad been doing. As a crafter and a mother-of-the bride who is now at the beginning stages of planning and creating everything for my daughter;s wedding, I have to give you such high praise for all that you did for your wedding!! What an amazing, unique and huge undertaking of love it obviously was! Your attention to detail and creativity is just astouding and it showed your love and dedication to your most special day. I truly have never seen such creative and out-of-the box ideas. You made your weding just gorgeous from the biggest of things to the smallest of details. As a fellow crafter, I know how much time and work went into that. How wonderful tosee how you put your talents to work for you and didn’t follow the “norm.” I love every aspect of what you did for your day and I am sure with dedication such as yours, you will have a long and happy marriage.

From one very impressed mom and crafter,
