Halloween Bark (recipe)

Happy Halloween!!!  Guess what, I’m writing this post from….TAIWAN!!!  Jeff found out last week that he had a business trip here, so I jumped at the opportunity to tag along!  Two days later, I am on an airplane and touching down in Taipei. I haven’t been to Taiwan since I was a teenager, so I am thrilled to be back in my parents’ homeland.  It’s so much more fun to visit as an adult!  They don’t really celebrate Halloween out here, I think its a pretty western holiday, but I still want to get into to the spirit!

Chocolate + Candy corn + Oreos + Reeses Pieces + Pretzels = the perfect Halloween treat!

This Halloween bark is an easy crowd pleasing snack. Perfect to bring into the office to share with coworkers today or for a Halloween party tonight.   I made a batch to bring to a friend’s house last week.  A good friend of ours landed a job in the area and we had to celebrate over wine and dessert.  This stuff is like crack, its totally addicting!  I think its the mixture of sweet + salty and chocolate + peanut butter that makes it SOOO good. It’s pretty much all my favorite candy and junk food globbed together. You can’t go wrong with all this sugary goodness combined!

Are you salivating yet? Ok, here we go!  You will need pretzels, oreos, candy corn, reeses pieces, and chocolate (I used both dark and white chocolate candy melts):

On a baking sheet lined with a silicone mat or wax paper, spread out pretzels on the bottom layer:

Break up oreo cookies and add to the pretzels:

Melt chocolate in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between. I used candy melts because that’s all I had in the pantry, but I think regular chocolate would taste even better.   I also used both dark and white chocolate, but you can use either:

Pour chocolate over pretzels and oreos:

Sprinkle candy corn and reeses pieces on top:

I melted white chocolate and scooped it into a piping bag. Then I drizzled the white chocolate all over the top:

Let sit until the chocolate hardens. You can also put the tray in the fridge for a few minutes to speed this up:

Break into smaller pieces:
