This type A, control freak found another project for my Silhouette machine: labeling my dresser!!
I have so much fabric, I’ve been storing them all in this dresser in our living room. When we sold our home in Boston and moved to a 1 bedroom apartment, I lost my craft room, so I have to come up with creative ways to store all my supplies. I’ve been hiding most of my random stuff in plastic bins under our bed or stuffing them behind doors. Less often used supplies are now being stored in my parents’ garage in LA until we get a bigger place. Not having a proper place to store things makes this organizational nut crazy! (sidenote: did you know that Jeff is a neat freak, too? The first time I went over to his place, I knew we were meant to be because the first thing I noticed when I arrived was that he had labeled his doorbell!)
Anyways, I used my Silhouette machine to cut out vinyl letters to label these dresser drawers:

The great thing about using the vinyl is that its repositionable and not permanent. I can change the labels or completely remove them later without any damage. I thought about also labeling Jeff’s dresser and his half of the closet in case he needs “extra guidance” putting his laundry away. Or another idea I had was cutting out cute clothing icons instead of words like icons for socks and underwear. I might even label my kitchen cabinets! The possibilities are endless!
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We flew to south Florida to visit Jeff’s parents who recently retired there. It was great having a warm, sunny Thanksgiving on the beach! Flying from SF- FL is a pretty long trip and I somehow caught a cold on the way back. I’m going to lay low this week, but I am jetting off again to LA this Thursday for my mom’s birthday. Hope you are all having a great week!!

I love the look of the lettering on the drawers! I feel like it suits your style very well!

I agree! I love the labels! I’m in the process of organizing all my fabric and the sewing room. I just blogged about the huge mess I made! Hopefully today I can get it wrapped up and put back together!!!
My other half would really think I lost my mind if I started labeling throughout the house. Sure would make my life much easier since he has to ask multiple times where things are. I have not moved the house around too much in 6 years, how hard is it. I think he does it to drive me nuts:)
The repositionable vinyl sounds so useful! It’d be fun to decorate a wall of your place with some words cut out of your silhouette machine (like different size words). Or maybe if you had a coat or towel rack mounted on a wall, you could put a label of your name on the wall above your peg, and jeff’s name above his peg!
these are great ideas!! i was thinking of decorating our entrance with some words!
