Hola!! My family likes to migrate somewhere warm (last year was Puerto Rico!) during the holidays and this year we headed south of the border to Mexico. We feel so blessed to have this opportunity every year and I’ve learned to cherish the time we get to spend together as a family. We rented a beautiful 5,000 + square feet villa on a stunning cliff in Puerto Villarta. The house was gorgeous, complete with pool, 2 living rooms, 4 bedroom suites, 7 bathrooms (one for each of us!), 5 terraces and a secret garden! The villa was so big, a small bird flew in one day and we couldn’t find it! We could hear it chirping and rustling around but we never could catch sight of it. We also hired a chef to cook our meals so all we had to do was relax and hang out with each other. Now this was the best way to vacation! The last 6 days were filled with lots of board games, tres leche cake, mexican hot chocolate, Friday Night Lights (I got my siblings hooked and we watched all of the first season), sleeping in and lounging around.

One of the highlights of our trip was taking a boat out to go whale watching. It’s mating/breeding season off the Mexican coastline and the bay was filled with humpback whales. We were so mesmerized by them, I had a hard time capturing the 45 foot long mammals on my camera. Here are a couple shots:
I’m surprised I somehow caught this male humpback jumping out of the water:
Jeff and I also added this Mexican ornament to our Christmas ornament collection:
All in all, it was a great family bonding time. We love our siblings and my parents so much. Family time together is rare and precious the older and busier we get. We look forward to our family vacation next year!
