I started this blog earlier this year as a fun way to document all the random ideas that go on in this little crazy head of mine. I had no idea it would bring me so much joy! I had been wanting to start a blog for awhile and it took a few months and a lot of prodding for this shy introvert to gather the courage to write so publicly, but I’m so glad I did. Even though it takes up so much time and energy, and I complain to Jeff that it adds unnecessary stress to an already frazzled life, its really given me a creative outlet and I love being able to share my ideas with like-minded people. With this past year being so full of transitions and changes, this blog has been one of the few steady things in my life that has kept me motivated. I really appreciate you all who read my blog, leave comments, send email, link to my blog, etc. You keep me going! Thanks so much for reading this year!!
As the year draws to an end, I thought I would reflect on my favorite posts/projects from 2011. I picked one post from each month that I liked the most or was the most popular (based on comments or stats). Click on the photos to read the full posts:
February: Carebear pajamas for my whole family! I started blogging in early February and this was one of my first ever posts. Sewing jammies is super fast so its rewarding, I later made more pajama pants for Jeff’s sister and her fiance.
March: Chocolate States made for my roommate’s bridal shower. She was moving from Boston to the Bay area after she got married. Who knew that in just a few months after, we would be following suit?
April: Goldfish crackers. I spent two weeks in April on an Unwrapped series, where I documented my attempts in the kitchen to replicate popular food items like twinkies, girl scout cookies and wheat thins. The goldfish recipe was my favorite because I used to run the children’s ministry at my church and we would consume goldfish by the bucketful every Sunday morning. I also did a tutorial on how to make your own goldfish cracker cutter out of a soda can.
May: Custom shirts for Cayla. It’s no secret that I love my Silhouette machine!
June: Panties Panties Panties!!! These are my favorite things to gift soon-to-be brides. I’ve made a ton of these custom underpants for bridal showers over the past few years and they always get a few laughs. I also made guy versions. Scandalous, I know!
July: Vintage Looking State Shirts. This might have been my most popular post ever with the most comments (including my first negative comment! which I deleted! boo!) due to this post being featured on Freshly Pressed, the wordpress homepage.
August: My Bicycle Wedding. Due to traveling and moving across the country, August was devoted to posts recapping our wedding. This post was about my favorite details of our wedding- the bicycle elements!
September: Embellished Baseball Cap. This is an example of my favorite type of projects- quick, easy and cheap!
October: American Apparel Knock Off Scarves. This post was also very popular with lots of traffic coming in from Pinterest. These scarves were so cheap and easy to make, too. They cost less than $5 and takes less than 30 minutes to make each one. I also had my first ever blog giveaway when I gave away two of the scarves I made.
November: My Famous Guacamole Recipe. I was traveling all the month of November but this was one of my posts that I managed to put together and one of my most favorite recipes.
December: Unveiling Our Christmas Cards. I spent a lot of time on designing and sending these cards, but its one of my favorite holiday traditions!
Thanks for reading my blog this past year!!!! I really really appreciate it!!! I’ll be back in the new year with some resolutions!! Happy New Year!!!! May the next year bring lots of joy to you and your family!
