I’m so happy about Valentine’s Day tomorrow! I’m all for any holiday that celebrates l-o-v-e. And any chance to send out snail mail to my friends? I’m all in! Just as much as I love designing and mailing Christmas cards every year, I love making and sending Valentine’s Day cards to my girl friends. Who says vday cards have to be just for kids? It’s fun to send to girl friends, too! I’ve been making and sending out Valentine’s cards to my close girl friends for as long as I can remember, it doesn’t matter if I am single, dating or married, living in North Carolina, California or Massachusetts, you’ll find me standing in line at the post office the week before February 14th, eager to send out some homemade valentine’s all over the country. It’s just a fun tradition to keep up to let my friends know how much I love them. I have the best friends in the world!
Since I can’t spend any money on projects this year, I had to use materials that I already had. I found a HUGE stack of over 100 glossy 4″x6″ photopaper that Jeff has had since before we were dating. Since we rarely print out our photos anymore, I decided to use those pre-cut photo paper to make postcards instead of cards/envelopes. I figured I would save on postage as well! (I must be living in the Dark Ages tho because I had no idea that postcard postage stamps are now 32 cents per card, I thought it was only going to be 19 cents each!! Oh wells.) I drew two designs in Adobe Illustrator, printed 10 of each and wrote little notes to each friend on the back. I was really happy with the way they turned out. The glossy finish and the high quality of the paper made the cards seem sturdy and polished. I think it’d look cute on regular cardstock, too.
I decided to upload and share the postcards on this site, too, in case any of you need a last minute Valentine’s Day card. You can download both designs as a PDF and print them out at home on your own 4″x6″ paper.
I decided to add a new “Free Printable” page as a link at the top of the site and hopefully add more card designs for you guys as I churn them out.
