Yesterday, I showed how to make a regular yarn pom pom which is super easy to do. I remember making pom poms in elementary school and adding googly eyes and pipe cleaner antennas to make little martian critters. If you want to take it one step further, you can also turn them into pom pom hearts! You can actually buy a heart pom pom maker, but I say, save a few bucks and make it yourself!
The great thing about making pom poms is that you can use left over scrap yarn that you have. I had this random segment of yarn that I had from over 8 years ago when I was first learning how to knit which I decided to unravel and re-use:

First you are going to make a basic circle pom pom. You can follow my pom pom tutorial from yesterday to do this. Instead of wrapping the yarn around my fingers this time, I used my iPhone instead, which ended up being a good width for this particular pom pom and freed up my hands to take pictures:

After you are done making the regular pom pom, all you need to do is take a pair of scissors and trim the circle into a heart shape:
I tied the back of the heart pom pom onto a package and it made a pretty cute decoration!
