Zoey’s Halloween Costume (the costume that never was)

Hey guys! I’m back!! Stealing a few minutes while Zoey is sleeping to cobble together a post!    I’m sharing today what should have been Zoey’s Halloween costume – a Duke Blue Devil!

Costume includes a cape, attachable devil tail and little devil horn hair clips.

The sweet baby girl never got to wear the costume I made her because she was born five days late ON Halloween!  She was suppose to have been induced earlier but the hospital was super full and I kept getting bumped (3 times!!) and she finally came out on her own on Halloween morning- the ONE day I didn’t want her to be born   It’s my least favorite holiday and I didn’t want her birthday associated with it!  Oh wells, my daughter has my stubbornness and was determined to make her grand appearance that day and I was glad to have her out!  She still gets to wear to her costume on big game nights like tonight, when my alma mater Duke (ranked #2) plays Ohio State (#4) in a big college basketball matchup.

Doesn’t this future class of Duke 2034 blue devil look so cute?

She has very sparse, fine hair, so she can’t wear the little devil horns hair clips I made her yet.

Zoey says, “Go Duke!!!”

I’ve made these Duke capes before for friends (see this post and the cape tutorial here except this time instead of making the closure with velcro, I added blue bias tape all around the edges and extended the tape to tie around the neck ) and tons of Duke baby onesies (like these and these), its hard to believe that this time, I made it for MY OWN BABY!!!   I have a baby!!!!  Wha?!
