  • The Great Striped Shirt Challenge: Elastic Skirt skirt

Day 1 of the Great Striped Shirt Challenge:  This week, I’m challenging myself to create projects out of the material of one shirt. The first thing I decided to make was a comfy skirt to celebrate the arrival of spring!  We’ve endured a very long, harsh winter here in New England and any temperature over ...

  • How to Make a Cake Pop Stand (tutorial) cakepopstand_title

I wanted to make a nice sturdy cake pop stand for the mini cupcake pops I made and wrote about yesterday for a bridal shower.  I wanted to  to display the lollipops in a cute way.  Instead of going the typical poke holes in a styrofoam block route, I wanted to make mine a little ...

  • Mini Cupcake Pops (tutorial) cakepop_title

For my friend Jane’s bridal shower, I volunteered to make cupcake pops.  After seeing cute pictures floating around on the web, I’ve been dying to try it myself and Bakerella makes it seem so simple.  It must be easy for the normal person, but I am clearly anything but normal and this project took a ...

  • Clay Imprinted Gift Tags (tutorial) tag_title

While walking down the aisle of Michaels (where I always seem to inexplicably end up during my spare time), this clay stuff caught my eye.  It’s called Crayola Model Magic. It’s made for little kids.  I don’t care, I want to play!   Intrigued, I bought a small tub for $3.49 and I have to say,  ...

  • Chocolate states! A chocolate mold tutorial state2

I experimented with making chocolates  for my old roommate Jane’s bridal shower last week.  She just got married this past weekend in Massachusetts but the happy newlyweds will be moving out west to California in a couple months.   I thought chocolates in those two state shapes would be cute for her party.  The MA chocolates ...

  • Upcycled: Framed Mirror! (tutorial) mirror_title

We have this huge 5′x4′ mirror in our bathroom. It’s so big, I couldn’t take a picture of the whole thing: Over the years, it’s gotten pretty grody.  Some of the edges were starting to rust and it was beginning to look pretty nasty so we replaced it with an identical new one a few weekends ...

  • More Marshmallow Fun with “Conversation Marshmallows” (tutorial) convomarsh_title

After seeing all those cute, omnipresent (but unpalatable) conversation hearts around Valentine’s Day, I was inspired to make some “conversation marshmallows”! I made the same marshmallow recipe as when I made the marshmallow s’mores, but instead of cutting them into 1″ squares with a pizza cutter, I used a bunch of mini cookie cutters (lightly oil first ...

  • Upcycled: Cedar Wood Tray (tutorial) tray_title

I had a very productive long weekend.  Along with celebrating our 6 month wedding anniversary, Jeff and I cleaned and de-cluttered the house.  And I made this cedar serving tray out of old materials I had lying around.   The best part about this tray is I was able to put it together with NO ...

  • Gimme S’more! (tutorial) marshmellow_title

This past weekend, I made marshmallows!  I’ve always wanted to make marshmallows from scratch, but was hesitant because I pictured a disaster in my kitchen. I foresaw stringy white sticky goo and powdered sugar spilled everywhere.  But I’m glad I gave it a shot! The mess wasn’t so bad! Homemade marshmallows are SO much better than ...

  • Ruffles Galore! Ruffly Flower Pillow Tutorial heartpillow_title

This ruffle flower heart pillow I featured yesterday was made of hundreds of these little flowers: Here is how I made each flower: 1. Cut fabric into 3 inch squares, rounding the corners of the squares. (The fabric I chose was a sheer polyester, similar to curtain material.)  The squares don’t have to be cut perfect since ...

Great projects, I’m so excited to start working on a few!! The only thing is, I wish you would go a little more detailed on some of the sewing tutorials, as people like me don’t even know how to do some of the “basic” stuff! I.e envelope stitching a pillow back.
But thank you for the fun ideas!! You’ve helped me rediscover creativity!

I do not leave a leave a response, however after reading a few of the comments on this page Tutorials
| come on, ilene!. I actually do have some questions
for you if it’s allright. Could it be simply me or
do a few of these remarks come across like they are left by brain dead visitors?
:-P And, if you are posting at additional places, I’d like to
follow you. Would you post a list of all of your social sites like
